More than three in four EU citizens, 78%, see a positive impact of EU regional investments in their city or region (up 3 percentage points (pp) from 2015). This is one of the key findings of regional policy Eurobarometer 452, which was published today. Citizens' generally positive opinion about Regional policy is also reflected in their view that it should continue investing in all EU regions: 53% of Europeans expressed this opinion. This dataset compares awareness, positive perception and the EU funding per capita in each EU Country.

2014 / 2020 Evaluation

This dataset provides an open data access to the list of cohesion policy programme evaluations completed by the Member States and published since 2015. The evaluations are also searchable through the search functions on this internet page: https://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/en/policy/evaluations/member-states/.
The evaluations cover multiple programming periods (2007-2013 and 2014-2020). Apart from the list, for many evaluations abstracts are also provided.
The list does not include ex ante evaluations for 2014-2020 (Art. 55 CPR).

The report compares achievements with finances in all ESF CCIs and priority axes at the level of the investment priority, broken down by category of region. Specifically it compares the total number of participants - unemployed + inactive + employed - with a) the total costs of the selected projects and b) the declared expenditure. The data on participants (common output indicators) are taken from Table 4A of the annual implementation reports. The financial data are taken from Table 7 of the AIR.

Specifically it compares the sum of all successful outcomes indicated by the common result indicators - job-search, being in education or training, gaining a qualification, being in employment upon leaving - with a) the total costs of the selected projects and b) the declared expenditure. The data on common result indicators are taken from Table 2A of the annual implementation reports. The financial data are taken from Table 7 of the AIR.

This dataset relates to the measure in the first CRII package that benefited all programmes with unrecovered 2019 EU pre-financing, and was automatically applied by the Commission. The 2019 annual pre-financing amounts not recovered can be used by the Member States to accelerate expenditure related to the COVID-19 outbreak. It is effectively a front loading of EU funding as the amounts not recovered in 2020 will be cleared or recovered at closure of the programming period only.
